Review: Stranger Danger by Michaelbrent Collings

Stranger Danger by Michaelbrent Collings

Synopsis and Details:

He will teach you the lesson…
… he knows you’re dying to learn.

Legion is a teacher. An avenging angel. A murderer.

A madman.

Raised in the underground hideout of an insane father, he searches for those who keep secrets and sins. Then he teaches them how to leave those mistakes behind. Even if it means killing them to do it.

Because sometimes murder is the cost of a proper education.

That’s why, when he comes to a neighborhood in the grips of a vicious gang war, he knows the time has come to teach.

Soon Legion – and his imaginary brothers, Water and Fire – are caught in the middle of a vicious fight for control of the Downs, the worst part of a city on the verge of anarchy.

Legion is facing enemies on all sides. Hundreds of men will stop at nothing to capture or kill him.

Legion will teach the lessons. And the students will never forget, no matter how long – or short – their lives may be.

The students are ready.

And the teacher will never stop.

Review with Rating:

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Stranger Danger is the third book in the Strangers series but this is the kind of series where all the books can be read as a standalone. Legion is back in this story as well as his brothers, Water and Fire. Once thought to be figments of his imagination, it seems that things are changing for the brothers and there is also a disturbing shadow that seems to be creeping its way onto the scene. As always, Legion has been looking for where he needs to teach his next “lesson” and his wanderings have led him to a place in Tree City called the Downs. This area is filled with gangs, crime, and criminals of all varieties. It is perfectly ripe for Legion’s type of instruction and in this story, school is definitely in session.

Despite the seediness of the area, there are many good people who are just trying to get by. Standing out among them is one officer of the law who wants to make a difference. Unfortunately, the police officer also has a past nightmare that has been on the prowl and looking for revenge. This cop is someone that draws the attention of Legion but not for the reasons that you would think. Even with all the criminal activity taking place, things in the Downs seem unnaturally quiet for the moment but that is only to hide the sinister and the ugly that is brewing just below the surface. Thankfully, Legion is there to make sure that the lessons are taught and that justice is served.

I do not give five-star reviews very often but Stranger Danger deserves every single one! The characters and their development in this story are amazing! They are all so well fleshed out – even the supporting characters are memorable. The setting feels authentic and I cared very much for the inhabitants that were doing their best in a bad situation. There were major elements of violence, horror, and depravity in this story as well as racial tensions that served as a catalyst for all that would take place. One thing I always love about stories from this Author is that he never fails to weave humorous elements into them. With all that was taking place it was fun to find the humor in places you would never expect it. I loved that! Overall, Stranger Danger was a thrilling story that gave as good as it got and with the gut punch twists that occurred, this is a story that will have fans clamoring for what is to come next.
