Synopsis and Details:
In the shocking finale to the bestselling series that began with Stalking Jack the Ripper, Audrey Rose and Thomas are on the hunt for the depraved, elusive killer known as the White City Devil. A deadly game of cat-and-mouse has them fighting to stay one step ahead of the brilliant serial killer—or see their fateful romance cut short by unspeakable tragedy.
Audrey Rose Wadsworth and Thomas Cresswell have landed in America, a bold, brash land unlike the genteel streets of London they knew. But like London, the city of Chicago hides its dark secrets well. When the two attend the spectacular World’s Fair, they find the once-in-a-lifetime event tainted with reports of missing people and unsolved murders.
Determined to help, Audrey Rose and Thomas begin their investigations, only to find themselves facing a serial killer unlike any they’ve heard of before. Identifying him is one thing, but capturing him—and getting dangerously lost in the infamous Murder Hotel he constructed as a terrifying torture device—is another.
Will Audrey Rose and Thomas see their last mystery to the end—together and in love—or will their fortunes finally run out when their most depraved adversary makes one final, devastating kill?

Review with Rating:
I will be the first to admit that I was not the biggest fan of this novel’s prequel, Escaping from Houdini, and I also big enough to admit that I was a fool because that book was preparing Audrey Rose for what she was to face in Capturing the Devil. I will also suggest that before you read this book you would read the novella, Becoming the Dark Prince, because that book gives insight into Thomas’s feelings between books three and four as well as a firming of Thomas and Audrey’s relationship. That was a very exciting novella to read and I highly recommend that you do, too.
Both Audrey and Thomas thought that coming to America was going to be a new start for them. Audrey was going to be able to experience the freedom from the restrictions she felt in London society and Thomas would no longer have the reputation he had garnered from the same society hanging over his head. It was to be a glorious beginning! Only it wasn’t to be, someone nefarious and evil had followed them on their journey and once set free into this new country created a stirring of fear. With murderers occurring that were straight out of their memories most horrid recollections, Audrey and Thomas were going to have to face their worst fears because their fear made mortal was no longer willing to lurk in the shadows.
Capturing the Devil was an amazing series ending novel that did not go silently into the night! There were many twists and turns that took place and on more than one occasion my heart was torn apart. The emotional evocation that was brought about during the reading of this story left me feeling wrung out, but only in the best of ways! The depth of character development throughout this series for both Audrey and Thomas was truly illustrated in this story and many hard choices, agonizing choices, were made by both of them. I loved, loved, loved, reading every single page of Capturing the Devil and although I am sad that this series has come to an end it will always remain one of my favorites!!
